Rosettes

New! Floating soundhole rosette. These rosettes are precisely laser-cut and can be installed in a ukulele soundhole so that it appears to float in the opening. The rosette has no affect on tonality or volume but adds a beautiful touch to the design of the uke. Birch wood in 2.5" diameter is shown, other sizes, designs, and wood types are available (including some exotic woods). These rosettes can also be installed in dulcimers and guitars as sound port covers. Contact me for availability.

The following rosettes are hand-made in Russia using tiny (<1 mm) colored wood blocks. I obtained a significant number of these through an estate auction of a European Luthier, and many are several decades old. Some (like the Orca rosette) are fairly large and are intended for Spanish-style guitars, but could be adapted to standard guitars. Each is one-of-a-kind and the following images are examples of what you can request for your guitar. The rosettes shown are currently available (as are many more) unless otherwise noted.
